DSE Assessments

All organisations whose employees regularly use computers and other display screens as a significant part of their normal day-to-day work are required by the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 (as amended in 2002) to assess their workstations and working routine.

There has been a rapid and continuing growth in the use of computers in all industry sectors. Different terminology is used which can be confusing – for example, visual display units (VDUs), visual display terminals (VDTs), monitors and display screen equipment (DSE).

Millions of people in Britain use DSE for a significant part of their work or use DSE at some time during their work. The growth in the use of computers, laptops and other mobile devices has been accompanied by increasing concerns about a range of health and safety hazards, mainly relating to musculoskeletal problems, visual fatigue, and stress.

Our consultants can also visit members of staff who are home or field based or alternatively provide access to documentation for remote assessment.

In addition, we can also train key members of staff as DSE Risk Assessors who will be able to carry out assessments internally.  These can then be submitted for review to our consultants to ensure that all compliance standards are maintained.
